This is where Zrće beach all started. Kalypso Club Zrće opened as a small beach bar over thirty years ago, 1987 to be precise. Kalypso was the very first bar to open down on the beach and was a place where youngsters used to chill out in the late 80s and early 1990s.
Kalypso Club Zrce is undisputedly responsible for starting the ball rolling and turning the town of Novalja into a world-famous global clubbing and festival location.
The club is situated on the side of Zrce Beach bay, surrounded by big trees that create a unique atmosphere between all the small bars and the big open-air dancefloor.
Other entrepreneurs experienced what Kalypso Zrće was doing on the beach, saw the potential, used their initiative, and began opening up their own establishments.
The rest, as they say, is history.
About Kalypso Zrće
So we know that Kalypso Zrće was the very first club to open at Zrće Beach in 1987. It all started over thirty years ago as a small beach bar, and now Kalypso Zrće has grown into one of the most beautiful clubs at Zrće Beach, with space for over 2000 party people!
There are several major festivals hosted at Kalypso Zrće throughout the year, featuring both international and local DJs.
In 2015, Kalypso Zrće underwent a transformational stunning redesign whilst also adding multiple new events and festivals. The modern refurb really has cemented Kalypso Zrće as a major player here on Zrće beach.
Parts of the Kalypso Zrće beach club are still surrounded by the woods. Trees are dotted throughout the venue and a unique atmosphere exists between the small bars and the big open air dance-floor. So none of the original charms has been lost.

DJ Mag Top 100 Rankings
It's no surprise that Kalypso Zrće has been recognised on a global scale. In 2017, they made their debut on the DJ Mag Top 100 Club Ranking, and they've continued to climb the ranks, achieving an impressive 66th place in 2021.
In our eyes though, it should easily be placed among the top 20…but we all know that the music industry works in weird and mysterious ways.

You may think we are utterly mad but some of our favorite times down on Zrće are the early morning after parties that are thrown at Kalypso Zrće. Or should I say the “infamous after parties!”
Kalypso Club Zrce Beach is often used as an epic after-party venue for big festivals!
Hideout and Sonus Festivals run their parties (with insane lineups!) from 6am to the early afternoon.
