B&B Novalis: Best Bed and Breakfast in Novalja

A Fresh Face in Novalja

Years ago, when I first came to Novalja, I was trying to find a plug adapter for all my English devices! I couldn’t believe how hard it was to find one, but I vividly remember going up the stairs to a shop above a supermarket called Novalis situated right in the centre of town.

Roll on a decade or so and things have changed somewhat.

This particular shop stopped operating a while back now, I think pre-COVID, and over the last couple of years, I have been watching it transform. 

I thought it was going to be a bunch of apartments, which is kind of the “norm” for Novalja and Zrće these days but to my surprise, the transformation has been quite sensational.

Now, it stands tall and proud as the Bed and Breakfast Novalis or, in short, B&B Novalis.

Novalja Local was extremely lucky to be invited to stay at B&B Novalis and check out what they have created.

Best Bed and Breakfast in Novalja

Walking into and up the stairs, everything felt so shiny fresh, and new. It had a cool, trendy vibe. And guess what? Everything was spotless!

You could tell immediately tell that they pay attention to every little detail.

What I really liked was the fact the interior was decorated with pictures that showed off the crafts and traditions of Pag Island.

It felt like a lovely mix of the old and the new.

And the one thing that really made it pop from the very beginning? The amazing staff. 

Right as I was taking it all in, Simona, came up with a big smile, ready to help me. From that moment, I knew I was going to be looked after.

This was consistent throughout my stay, from the receptionist, to the smiling cleaners, to the breakfast chef, all the way through to the super cool night porter, they were all so kind, friendly, and always ready to help.

That is priceless in my book as you can go to so many places, and the staff are either undertrained, unavailable or you can tell they just simply do not want to be there! 

I may as well be upfront now. I've been to a lot of B&B places over the years, but this might just be the best bed and breakfast I've ever stayed at. 

If you're ever in Novalja, you've simply got to check it out, it really is rather special.

Stepping Into a Surprise

You know when you think a place is small or your expectations are wildly inaccurate, but then you walk in and it's like "WOW, what have we here then?" 

That's exactly what happened to me at the B&B Novalis.  

From the outside, it looked cozy. "Maybe a few well-equipped Novalja based apartme- I assumed! 

But inside? It totally blew my mind.

The floors twisted and turned in a curious way, like a maze. And not just any maze - this one was decorated tastefully with all the feel and culture of Pag Island and Novalja decorating the corridors. It was certainly done with thought.

 It felt like I was on a little mini-adventure just finding my way around.

What I especially liked when touring the floors was the eco-friendly modern lighting system. 

All the lights were generally off but clever sensors monitored the hallways and flicked the lights on as soon as it sensed a “human” and dropped them off again when we were not using that corridor space anymore. 

Simple, but in this day and age, frugal and kind to the environment. A nice touch and many other hotels could learn a few things there.

And the location is so very convenient.

It's right above the Novalis supermarket! If you have ever been to Novalja I am pretty sure you have ventured into this popular supermarket at one time or another. It has been here for decades! 

So, if you forget your deodorant or want a bottle of wine or a Kitkat, you're sorted! 

Plus, being in the heart of Novalja town meant everything was just a hop, skip, and a jump away. It literally is LESS than 50 metres away from restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and the sunset promenade. 

And let's talk about how clean, tidy, and well-maintained this place was. 

Not a single thing is out of place. It looked like someone had just cleaned up two seconds before I walked into the place.

Location, Location, Location! (& Accessibility)

I know I mentioned it above but it is such a big positive of this location. 

First thing first: the location of B&B Novalis, Josipa Kunkere 8, Novalja is unbeatable! 

If you want to be in the heart of the action, this is the place. We're talking less than a stone's throw away from Novalja's main square. 

That means you can step out and be right in the thick of things in no time.

Handy, right?

Now let's talk a little bit about accessibility as it is located above quite a big supermarket and it is on multiple floors. So lots of steps involved! 

Here's the clever part: 

B&B Novalis has this awesome see-through glass lift! It's not just about going up or down - you can actually have a good look over Novalja as you whizz up and down. 

So forget those stairs! 

Now, a tiny heads-up and maybe the one downer on this location. Parking.

if you're bringing a car, you might want to plan ahead. B&B Novalis does offer parking, but parking spaces are quite limited.

It's probably best to look into the parking situation with the B&B Novalis early to make sure you get a space. 

Other than that, everything about this place is bang on the money!

All About the Comfort!

Okay, let’s get serious…let’s talk rooms.

B&B Novalis has a mix of both - 11 suites and 12 regular rooms. 

I stayed in one of the suites, and let me tell you, it felt like a four-star hotel. 

The bed? Super comfy. I melted into it at night. 

The room? Spotless.

And the décor and layout? It's got this modern minimalistic touch that makes everything feel brand new and comfortable.

Now, let’s dig into the room features. First off, the Wi-Fi is solid - perfect for catching up on shows or doing a bit of work.

There's also a minibar stacked with treats and drinks. But the best part for me was the kitchen area. 

It's always spot on to have the easy option to whip up a snack or two when you've got the munchies! 

And, of course, the bathroom was super slick and modern and kitted-out with all the essentials you would find at any high-end hotel. 

So, no need to panic if you forget your body was, which I always seem to do.!

Last but not least, what makes this place stand out are the unique and well-thought-out touches. Every room has these little bits of comfort and luxury. 

There are even a few nods to the local island culture in the room design which is an excellent way to feel connected to the island, even when resting for the next day's adventures.

Rise and Shine at the Rooftop!

Want to chill out at one of the BEST spots in Novalja? Well, the rooftop breakfast terrace area delivers just that.

Imagine munching on an entire range of breakfast goodies whilst looking out over, quite possibly, the best town view in Novalja. You literally have a view over the whole town and harbour. 

What a way to start your day.

Plus, this isn’t your everyday cereal-and-toast kind of place. 

They've got a breakfast spread that would make your stomach rumble just thinking about it. From fresh fruits, bread, and cold meats to ‘more-ish’ pastries, it's all here at B&B Novalis.

And if you're into eggs, sausages, and bacon, they've got that too! 

There's also a super special café bar up there, and let me tell you, the drinks are en-point.

Whether you want fresh juice or a hot and creamy latte, they've got you absolutely covered. 

Oh, and I can’t forget about this amazing scrambled egg I had – it was probably the nicest one I've ever tasted in town.

My son Luka said, "Even better than Grandma’s!" Now that is an accolade!

Now, you might be thinking, "Sounds fancy. I bet it is pricey?" 

Nope! Everything's included in the room price. In fact, for the quality and the amount of food you get, it's a total winner.

So, whether you're a big breakfast fan (like me!) or just someone looking for a good drink with a fantastic view, this rooftop spot is an absolute HIDDEN GEM! 

Meeting the Heart of B&B Novalis

Do you know what made my stay extra special? All the staff! Even down to the cleaners! 

They aren’t just people who run the place; they’re like temporary neighbors you always wish you had.

It makes your stay so much more “homely” and memorable.

As soon as I got there I was welcomed by Samona and Viktor and we must have chatted for about an hour on the terrace whilst having a coffee. They were so welcoming and friendly.

Emma, the reception manager was amazing and could not do enough for me and it was obvious she had B&B Novalis operations running like clockwork.

If you need anything or have any special requests, they are always there to help. 

It was then I began to see why B&B Novalis has received such emphatically good reviews and such high occupancy in their first season of opening. Bravo!

The best part? They’re locals.

Several of them are from Novalja and, at one point, I could overhear them helping out other guests telling them about local restaurants and bars just around the corner, and even suggesting the best dishes to try. 

Having locals is always such a positive as they can provide knowledge of must-visit spots and things to do in Novalja, places that you wouldn’t have found in any tourist guide.

It's clear they care about making every guest's stay in Novalja perfect and are prepared to go above and beyond.

All the Extras at B&B Novalis

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I first saw the two rooftop terraces which were both kitted out with sun-beds and two luxurious jacuzzis. 

Yes, you read that right!  It felt like I had found a hidden luxury spot right in the heart of Novalja. 

And this is a B&B! It really felt more like a four-star hotel.

One terrace faces the beautiful sea, giving you that perfect holiday postcard view. 

And the other? It was like you were watching a live map of the town.

Both spots are just amazing for chilling and catching those golden sun rays and even when the sun went down the terraces took on a whole new evening dynamic.

But wait, there's more! In the middle of the terraces, like crown jewels, are two big jacuzzis.

And if you ever get bored of the views (I doubt you will!), you have your amazing rooms where you can chill with a book or have a nap.

Honestly, with all these amazing positives at B&B Novalis, I sometimes had to remind myself to go out and explore the town!

Getting More Than Your Money's Worth

From the moment I stepped into B&B Novalis, I felt like I had stumbled upon a secret haven!  

Everything just screamed luxury and comfort, but guess what? The price didn't!

I've stayed in places before where the room rates are much higher and got a lot less. Here, it feels like the hotel stretches every Euro to give the guest the best possible experience.

The rooms, the amazingly friendly and professional staff, the roof top terraces, the jacuzzis - everything simply felt premium. 

And when you add in the fantastic mixed breakfast, the unbeatable central location, and the personal touches from the hosts, it's clear that this place offers way more than what you're paying for. 

To sum it all up, my stay at B&B Novalis was wonderful. If you're looking for an amazing deal where you get much more than you expect, this is the place to be!

Best Bed and Breakfast Novalja: Wrap Up

Okay, so it’s time to wrap things up. My short stay at B&B Novalis was fantastic! 

From the trendy rooms to the rooftop breakfast and the faultless staff, everything was impeccable.

Sure, the parking may be a  little tight, but honestly, that's a tiny hiccup in an otherwise perfect destination.

Staying there made me feel special and very much like I'd found something new in Novalja. 

If you ever get the chance to visit, don't miss out on this B&B. 

And here's a tip for those planning a visit: try to spend some time on both terraces. You won't regret the view or the vibes.

In conclusion, B&B Novalis isn't just a place to sleep - it's a Novalja experience.
